LISTEN | Montreal's Grandbuda Releases Electrifying New Single "AAA"
It's about time we heard from Grandbuda again.
His new release titled “AAA” is an electrifying account of repeated discrimination, and an uncompromising celebration of culture.
With a menacing bass line sounding like Tron routed through a high distortion amp, constrasts with the sharp edge of GrandBuda’s high-energy vocals, as rolling kicks punch through the trippy soundscape of a warped vocal sample.
Buda explains the origins of the song as arising from a frustrating experience of being “randomly selected” at LAX, an all too familiar occurrence for himself and his minority ethnicity fellows. GrandBuda asserts that to get what he wants, too often, he has to work three times as hard.
“Triple A like a battery is the power we have, and by sticking together, any culture, we are stronger.”
As the instrumental transitions to a break beat for the outro, Grandbuda switches to his native Spanish, and it becomes clear that he is not going to apologize for his roots.
