LISTEN | Montreal's Matthew Chaim Releases Emotionally Striking Tune "Visit You" From His Homemade EP

On Our Radar

The growth is tremendously humbling.

Matthew Chaim has been on radar for a couple of years now. We've seen him come and go, and then come back stronger than ever. We've pretty much covered every single he's released since he's started, and couldn't get enough.

We're very stoked to finally get a solid body of work to play on repeat: his latest EP titled Homemade. The 6-track project comes from deep within his roots, a truly gritty and emotional release with outstanding production to back it all up. His latest single "Visit You" accompanies the release of the EP, and is probably the most vulnerable we've heard Matthew Chaim be in a while. Here's what he has to say about the single:

I wrote “Visit You” for my father, Sam Chaim, who passed away suddenly when I was 12 years old. I think that anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one can relate to the irrational feeling that there must be a way that you can still visit them – that the idea of their permanent absence is just too impossibly surreal to accept. I hope others can get the same therapy in listening to this song as I got from writing it.

The entire Homemade EP is handcrafted with pure pop precision, very hard to compare anything else you're probably listening to right now, and this is truly when you know a star is born.

If one thing is taken away from these songs, let it be that your particular process of becoming who you are is completely and utterly yours. Nobody else’s. The best version of you, just like the best food, is always homemade.
