You Need To Hear This: Vesper Sails Releases Hidden Gem Titled Cheshire King

On Our Radar

It's a rare occasion to stand-out as a progressive rock band, to me at least, and Vesper Sails achieved just that.

The San Francisco-based quartet made me do a double-take as I lent my ear to the music and found myself immediately diving deep into their world. Uncategorizable as a specific sound, the band offers us progressive indie rock, executed like a jazz band and just enough pop sensibility to keep you wanting more.

I immediately started looking for visuals and videos to shape my vision of the music, and then I changed my mind: I decided that I really wanted to experience the music the way it was crafted for me to: through the music.

Their debut album Cheshire King is a solid debut. Certainly the best way to introduce quality music as an up and coming band. It's the type of album that makes your mind go places, looks through your soul, and play with your emotions. A hidden gem that you really want to keep to yourself, but also want to share with the rest of the world.

Just like a piece of art hanging in the middle of nowhere, I had so many questions to ask, but I had to let the music take the reigns on this one. I cannot describe the rush of emotions you get from listening to the vocal effects on "Push Back" - out of this world.

It's not easy to pin-point what's going to happen with Vesper Sails, but that's the beauty of discovering an obscure band nowadays. I guess you could call this a mystery wrapped in an enigma

There is absolutely no excuse for you to skip this 8-track debut. I can guarantee that you will need to listen to this more than once, and you will. Stream below:

The 8-track album is currently available on all official streaming platforms, and is easily digestable.
