IX Podcast 20: Internet Daughter

Toronto reaks with talents from all facets of life. Today, we celebrate the music gem that is Internet Daughter. She's been played by the likes of UZ, played a sold out show alongside Bauuer, and is making mad moves right now. We've already premiered Internet Daughter's remix for Felix Cartal's song "Something To Live For" not too long ago (click here) - and we couldn't be more excited to showcase her talents even more through our Podcast series. Celebrating Canadian acts is something we're passionate about, and we couldn't have brought this to life without the homies over at Moto Made.
Internet Daughter will be playing a Moto Made hosted showcase at Blue Dog on March 5th alongside Grandbuda, Tibe and kazz, which you can click to attend right here. If you want in on the action, you can jump on our guestlist to get in for free before midnight right here: http://20160503.splashthat.com/IX
The 20th edition of the IX Podcast is now available via iTunes, Soundcloud and Mixcloud. Tracklist after the jump!
IX: Who is Internet Daughter?
Internet Daughter is basically me, just not wearing uggs and sweatpants.
IX: When did you start spinning/producing music?
first started DJing in early 2014, putting out my first music in the fall of that year
IX: Did you have any musical background before getting into the music scene?
*laughs* yes it's so lame, I played saxophone in my school band, which is only one step above clarinet on the scale of lameness.
IX: What artists have had an influence on what you do?
I always loved dance music, I mean I listened to tons of weird euro when I was a kid, but I don't have a story like most people. After school I’d lost interest in dance music and was fully into hip hop, but in 2013 I got this Big Jacks mix tape with tons of trap like Keys N Krates, Grandtheft, Flosstradamus mixed into it, I played every day at work and just dove right in.
IX: What is one of your most memorable moments in your career up to now?
*laughs* well actually making money at it is amazing but playing with Baauer in front of a sold out crowd was unforgettable, and finding out artists you respect like UZ, Slander and Troyboi are playing your music was a huge moment for me.
IX: What is the big plan for the next year?
I just booked my first tour dates, so playing more cities is definitely my priority, but after finally getting a new studio space I have to leave town almost immediately *laughs*. Once I'm back I'm focusing on some pretty exciting remixes, and putting out more original music that can show people my style.
