And to finish it all off, Aussie psych rock band Tame Impala decided it was time the world hear a new tune after letting us survive off their albums Lonerism and Innerspeaker for the past 3 fucking years on repeat. NOT that it’s been a long time or anything.

First the band teased fans with a cryptic-but-not-really post via their Instagram:

Shortly thereafter, eargasms erupted across the globe as they released “Let It Happen”; an 8 minute psychedelic delight of distortion and reverb with singer Kevin Parker’s shoegaze vocals balancing it all out. Half way through the song you fall through what I deemed a “Synth rabbit hole” which can only be a preview of the new “less rock/more electronic” sound the boys were claiming to be taking with their new album; who’s release date has yet to be given. I will admit I cringed, HEAVILY, when Tame came out with this news last fall. But after hearing this recent single, the psych rock obsessed fangirl in me is keeping hope alive that the new album won’t stray too far from fans’ comfort zone. The new song is available for free download on their site because it’s always nice to share the love with us poor folks. (No but seriously, my bank account will make you cry.)

And as if that wasn’t enough, the band also released the dates and locations for their North American tour kicking off next month, and thankfully stopping in Montreal on May 20th. Peep below:
