July marks a particularly good moment in the summer season. The weather is finally getting hot enough to complain about, you’ve probably already made some great summer memories you aren’t too proud of and festival season is in full swing here in Montreal.

One that I shamefully only discovered last year is the Fantasia Film Festival. For the past 14 years this world renowned event has featured a colossal array of genre films from across the globe. From feature films to guest speakers; director and cast Q&A’s, awards and world movie premieres, it’s safe to say that this festival is truly a beautiful celebration of not only the world of film but so much more. Let’s face it though; you probably already knew all this.

Three weeks for the chance to immerse yourself in the cinematic culture of other countries and witness another side of your usual American movies. Last year I was blown away by the eerie beauty and subtle humor of Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter, directed by David Zellner, something I probably would have not stumbled upon were it not for Fantasia. One movie sure to bring in some new faces this year is the premiere of Marvel’s Antman with the always adorable Paul Rudd.

The full schedule was finally released so if you feel like getting festive then go celebrate at the official program launch happening  tonight. Tickets for the festival go on sale July 11th so be sure to use that hard earned money on a nice treat for yourself ok? I will luckily be covering the festival once more this year so expect some reviews and nonsense from yours truly!
