Montreal’s Playground Poker Club Partners with partypoker.

It’s been called the best tournament poker room in the world and you can find it just a short drive south of downtown Montreal.  Playground Poker Club has been around since 2010 and at a time when physical casinos are struggling to compete with online gambling, it continues to go from strength to strength.

According to its facebook it’s ‘recognised by poker players all over the world as Canada’s premier poker destination’, and it’s just taken a giant step towards consolidating that position by forming a ‘strategic partnership’ with the world’s fourth biggest online poker site, partypoker.  The first fruits of this new partnership are the thirty-nine tournaments which comprise the partypoker backed ‘World Cup of Cards’, which boasts a thumping 2 million dollar guaranteed prize money.

Running from August 18th through to September 14th one of the highlights is going to be the number of non-Hold’em events.  Over 25% of the tournaments will be in other forms of poker, such as PLO, Omaha8, 5-card Omaha and two versions of Pineapple. The only other place in the world where you’ll find such a variety of games is Vegas.

Playground Poker Club CMO, Phil Sabbah, is ‘thrilled’ by this partnership, as well he might be.  Club members now get the opportunity to play prestigious partypoker events online and the club gets to run online satellites for its live events, enabling it to reach out to the entire Canadian market.

It’s good news for partypoker too, a whole new bunch of players are going to be gambling online and the partypoker brand will get full exposure to a Canadian audience.
