WATCH: A Dozen Sheep Storm Into the Louvre (Yes, You Read That Correctly)
Now here's something that doesn't happen every day!
This past Friday, a dozen sheep (and one sheepdog) stormed the Louvre (yes, the famous art museum) as a protest by France's Farmers' Federation against reforms to the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy, which include cutting subsidies to smaller farms. The farmers fear this will speed industrialization of agriculture, thereby costing farmers their jobs.
A spokesman of the protest said:
"What we can see today is a desire on the part of the agricultural ministry to impose a marginalising policy which will get rid of farmers so we came here to say we don't belong to a museum and that our place is in the countryside, where we can revitalize the countryside, create jobs and develop quality produce, that's why we came here today."
Fortunately, no one was arrested and no artwork was damaged. And apparently the sheep were baaaaa-d smelling!
