Inside The Awesome *And Free* Louis Vuitton Exhibit In NYC

On Our Radar

Volez Voguez Voyager - Louis Vuitton just hit New York City and features 163-years of the luxury brand’s history, from their first ever monogrammed luggage to their greatest hits (Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton’s gold and silver duffels, anyone?).

You first walk into a Louis Vuitton metro station (Instagram gold), leading you through the invention of the iconic style and logo of the brand through “the art of travel,” their official tagline. Curated by premiere fashion historian Olivier Saillard, the exhibit is free and open to the public until early January.

One room simulates the deck of a sailboat in the early 1900s, moving into modernized forms of travel like trains and planes. There’s also an emphasis on the influence of celebrity, featuring an impressive collection of early to late Hollywood starlet’s personal Vuitton belongings, like Elizabeth Taylor’s monogrammed luggage (which she hilariously labeled with “MINE!” tags) and Taylor Swift’s sequin Met Gala dress.

The highlight had to be the ultra-rare pieces from collaborations with brands like Supreme and designers like Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawabuko and Vivienne Westwood. There’s also a selection of Marc Jacobs' most popular designs during his tenure as Creative Director at Louis Vuitton for over 15 years, like the now iconic Stephen Sprouse graffiti collection, that will make any fashion lover swoon.

Feast your eyes on all the gorgeous couture you can handle and take as many flash free photos as you want. I guarantee you’ll have an LV monogram burned onto your eyes for days.

Volez, Voguez, Voyagez—Louis Vuitton” is open at 86 Trinity Place, New York, from October 27 to January 7, 2018.
