LISTEN | Toronto's Kokophonix Releases Pure Jazz Fusion Bliss With "River" ft. EyeAmI
Kokophonix is a jazzy-hiphop-R&B project based in Toronto, but its roots span much further.
Niko Hook, the man behind Kokophonix, is not only a multi-instrumentalist but the creator, producer and overall talented man behind Kokophonix. He's won accolades such as Songwriter of the year in 2016 for his debut album Children of The Stars.
Mostly jazzy, yet relevant and relatable, the music swoons in feel-good vibes with collabs ranging from rappers to vocalists that elevate the entire project al-together. Currently working on a follow-up album, we get a teaser for what's to come with his latest single "River" featuring rapper EyeAmI, a conscious rapper from Zimbabwe living in Toronto.
The instruments were all played at the studio and then sampled to give way to the beat. Local guitar master Tristan Armstrong (DeeDee & the Dirty Martinis, Stars Algonquin) provided some funky guitar, Ayaka Kinugawa (Second City Musical Director) laid out some meandering jazzy piano, and Rick Salt (engineered on David Gogo's and the Irish Rovers' albums) mixed and mastered until it shined.

Kokophonix will release a full length album in late fall of 2018.
