Q&A | LOUD Tells Us Who He's Looking Forward To See The Most At This Year's Festival D'Ete De Quebec

This dude put Quebec on the international map last year.

Alongside many other similar artists that have been making moves to propulse the RapQueb scene on international platforms, LOUD really stood out from the bunch. Previously known as part of the trio Loud Lary Ajust, his solo career took off right away with no hesitation. His album Une Année Record really translated into real life as it broke records, still to this day. Easy to listen to, this album filled with easy to sing along to lyrics in Franglais (the national language of Quebec) has been making the rounds and has been playing on repeat ever since it got released.

One thing that really surprised us, was his live performance. We got the chance to catch him during his album release mini-tour when he came to Montreal's M Telus. We had our expectations quite high, and he was able to exceed them exponentially.

LOUD will be performing at this year's Festival D'Été De Quebec on July 7th at Scene Bell at 8:00pm, and you DEFINITLEY won't wanna miss that.

Scroll through our mini Q&A after the jump, while playing his worldwide famous album below.

Describe to us what a typical day in your life looks like when you three meet up?

Im guessing you’re referring to Lary and Ajust? These days when we see each other we usually meet up at Lary’s place and smoke up his kitchen while listening to Raekwon or Nipsey. We still do the occasional show together and me and Lary have been doing merch collaborations with his brand Officiel.

If you had to pick a gif that represents your music, what would it be?

You released your debut solo album and it blew up. How does it feel looking back at when you were still working on it?

It’s crazy thinking it was just a few months ago! So much has happened since it dropped that it feels like it’s been much longer. I was in a very different headspace while working on it because at the time everything depended on the outcome of the project so I was very focused. It was a lot of pressure in a sense but the fact that the EP and the album weren’t expected allowed us to work from an underdog perspective. Right now Im trying to figure out how to get back to that mindstate for the next one while juggling with the tour life and all the new attention.

What is the last text message you sent or received about the album, or tour? (screenshot + attach)

How has Montreal/Quebec contributed to or inspired your work?

Mostly the language, the slang. The blend of American and European culture too. Everyone that I still work with I’ve met in Montreal so it really made me.

You’re going to perform at this year’s Festival D’Ete de Quebec, what do you have in store for the performance?

This is probably going to be our biggest outdoor performance to date so it should be something to see. And I think there is something in the water of the St. Lawrence River because Quebec is always a bit crazier than elsewhere.

Is there something particular you like about your fans/crowd in Quebec city?

I remember we played Quebec city less than 24 hours after the album dropped last year and the crowd knew most of the lyrics already. Dedication, there’s levels to this shit.

Any other artists/groups you are looking forward to catch at this year’s Festival D’Ete de Quebec?

Future. Brockhampton. Camilla Cabello. Neil Young. Maybe Lorde. Im not sure I will be able to be there more than a day or two tho so we’ll see.

If you had one song you absolutely love to perform, which one would it be?

Devenir immortel
