Worst Oscars Outfits of History

The 86th Academy Awards are tomorrow, and to celebrate the most important night of the year in the movie industry, we digged out the worst outfits witnessed on the red carpet over the years. Seeing as though this is the best of the worst, I think we should give some credit to these celebs for the courage they had to leave their house dressed like garbage. Here are our top 10 faux-pas on the red carpet (sorry in advance)!

10. Celine Dion - 1999

In 1999, Celine Dion showed up to the Oscars wearing a white Christian Dior pant suit and we're not sure why, but Dion decided spice things up and wear her blazer backwards. Still matching, the superstar wore a white fedora... Why? We'll never know.

9. Kate Winslet - 1998

Kate Winslet was nominated for best actress for her leading role in the Titanic when she wore a green forest and gold traditional gown in 1998. If I had her body, I would never hide it in a hideous folkloric dress like she did.

8. Zoe Saldana - 2010

Some called it adorable and flirty, but I personally think this dress was a disaster. The shades of purple and the sequined top part will probably give me nightmares tonight. Not Zoe Saldana's best outfit choice.

7. Susan Sarandon - 1996

Susan Sarandon had the honor to wear the first ever piece designed by Dolce & Gabanna on the red carpet in 1996. Even though it was a huge moment in fashion history, the gown itself was a hot mess. The bronze satin dress is painful to look at, especially when you realize that it matches Sarandon's hair. Yikes.

6. Lizzy Gardiner - 1995

Instead of using your credit card to buy a dress, why not make yourself a dress made out of American Express cards? Well, that's what costume designer Lizzy Gardiner did at the 67th Academy Awards in 1995. We have to give her points for the creativity though.

5. Uma Thurman - 2004

Not sure what to say about Uma Thurman's dress, if you can even call it a dress. She wore in 2004. Perhaps she was running late and asked one of her kids to dress her up?

4. Tyra Banks - 2000

After walking the runway for designers like Chanel, Valentino and Fendi, we expect Tyra Banks to know a thing or two about fashion. However, in 2000, all she did was dissapoint us. The American supermodel looked like she was ready to hit her high school prom wearing this Vera Wang gown.

3. Tilda Swinton - 2008

Tilda Swinton usually succeeds in her avant-garde outfits. However, the washed silk satin dress Swinton wore at the 80th Academy Awards designed by Alber Elbaz for Lanvin was a real letdown.

2. Cher - 1986

As much as we love Cher for being such a free-spirit and trendsetter, the vegas-like outfit was over the top. Apperently, Cher decided to show up to the Oscars wearing this outfit to make a statement because she wasn't nominated for her outstanding performance in the movie Mask. Cher surely made her point since her "statement" dress is, to this day, one of the most unforgettable outfits in Oscars' 85-year history.

1. Björk - 2001

Taking the first place in our 10 worst outfits to ever walk the red carpet is the infamous swan dress worn by the beautiful Björk. The Icelandic-singer made history when she appeared at Oscars in a white dress including a swan wrapped around her neck. We hope it was Björk's last attempt to make people talk by wearing something as outrageous as a swan around her neck as a dress.

We are extremely excited to see who will end up on next year's list and who will have the honour to be the best dressed at the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday.
