On Our Radar

KABIRIA is an electrifying duo combining Columbus, Ohio native Gretchen King and Vancouver, Canada’s Chris Dang.

These two are equally creative, utilizing their skills and musical backgrounds with a very DIY approach when it comes to the visual aspects (and making the music). After listening to their latest track, you can definitely feel a positive aura that is tremedously inspirational.

They really know how to touch on a wide variety of genres without making too obvious, to the point where you don't realize it unless you're really thinking about it, because it just sounds good. G-funk, synth pop, trip hop, and chillwave each find their way into KABIRIA’s sound, resulting in a veritable musical gallery of aural collages all with the band’s signature introspective lyrics and masterfully layered accompaniment featuring in each song.

The lyrics describe the feelings you have when you are deciding whether to stay or leave a negative situation, and also reflect upon on your own part in the situation.” The result is a song that manages to transcend the decades while also tapping into the listener’s psyche to create a personal connection with the lyrics.

Watch their debut video above for "Hold Me Down" which is a looping gif of a collage Gretchen made hereself. It will captivate you to the point where you might get lost in the video forever.

It's worth it.
