Who is Jaymie Silk ?

Jaymie Silk is a Dj & producer. French native & now based in Montreal. Jaymie Silk is a mix of Love, Spleen, Parties, Samples & Percussions

When did you start spinning/producing music?

It's been 10 years since I started making music. I concentrated on rap/urban music during a while & I then started taking it more seriously this year.

Did you have any musical background before getting into the producing scene?

I was introduced to keyboards & organs when I was younger. The problem is that I don't know how to play piano/keyboard. I know how to place my fingers on the keyboard but I'm not able to play or read a score. In a way, it helped me a lot as an autodidact to develop my musical ear as a producer.

What artists have had an influence on what you do?

Oh man, I've been & Im still influenced by so many things. I consider myself a sponge. I can be by listening to a track or just be in the studio watching someone else working. When you listen to my music you know it 's hybrid, it 's not something stuck in a category, this is Jaymie Silk music. I think the main influence for me is the work ethic of people like Gainsbourg, Berry Gordy, Tupac, Dilla ... Different fields but the same will to be creative & to step out of line.

What is one of your most memorable moments in your career up to now?

It's the journey, certainly the fact to be persistent after all these years & to be able to achieve what I have in my mind musically.  Music is the expression of my heart & soul, I try to do it in the purest & natural way & people feel it

What is the big plan for the next year?

I'm still workin on new music so you'll have a lot of new Jaymie Silk music next year, original tracks & new edit. I'm gonna sing more on my tracks like on the track "Goodbye" from my recent album "Trouble In Paradise". I'll start a monthly residency in Montreal with 2Gz on December 10 at "Le Bleury Bar a Vinyle"- Our first guest will be Bambii, one of my fav Canada Djs.

I'm also working on a collaboration with Beek from the Qween Beat Crew, for his upcoming album. It's gonna be fiiiiire. Looking forward to playing as many gigs as [os
